Flash Task: Customisation of t-shirt

Image
Our second flash task of the module enlisted us as a group to take a plain white t-shirt and transform it into a creative fashion piece that represented our brand and the concept behind our ‘relaunch’ of the Kappa brand. We decided to cut a deep v neck on the t-shirt but left a choker of the t-shirt on the neck, and lined the v-neck with blue thread to add detailing to the shirt. For the back of the shirt we cut and tore a hole which we then laced with black ribbon to make it look like the detailing of a corset. Also adding pink and blue ribbon to the ends, and finishing with a bow at the top of the corset-like back. Then over the top of the t-shirt we added a sporty-type black bra laced with a white and red balcony. We did this as within our ‘relaunch’ we want to focus on the topic of gender and make the Kappa brand unisex. Therefore, within our t-shirt customisation we chose to push the boundaries of what is deemed acceptable for males and females to wear, while glamorising the t

Flash Task: Jewellery Piece

Image
Our first flash task of the module saw us collaborating with Level 4 Jewellery makers at Sheffield Hallam University, to work as a team to create a jewellery piece that portrayed the ‘relaunch’ of our fashion brand; Kappa. Working within my group we decided to create a jewellery piece that was unique and diverse, as we are aiming to diversify the Kappa brand in our ‘relaunch’. So we chose to ask our jewellery designer to design a ear to nose chain that was simple and elegant. We chose this as our jewellery piece as we wanted to create a piece which glamourised the Kappa brand, as in our ‘relaunch’ we want to take Kappa away from being known as a trashy brand and make it be reborn into a high end fashion brand that fashion savvy people incorporate into their fashion clothing lifestyles. The finished piece was made using a simple brass chain, with a silver nose ring and ear cuff and embedded in the chain and made to dangle were brown gem stones. I think the finished product works wel

Sergio Tacchini supplied some bright red tracksuits in the fashio

In the 1950s the Maglificio Calzificio Torinese (MCT), a leading manufacturer of socks and underwear in Italy, created Kappa, a sub-brand of the Aquila brand, as a result of a production problem that had caused a loss in sales. MCT launched a renewed and improved product line which would be tagged K (Kontrollen) in an attempt to achieve new credibility with regard to quality. In the mid-1950s, Kappa had become a consolidated brand, and in Italy became the undisputed leader in the socks and underwear sector. In 1969 the textile industry was hit by a recession, in a period marked by social change. MCT responsed by diversifying production. The students’ movement in the late 1960s had introduced the concept of casual wear, and MCT decided to produce outerwear, based on the success of the firm’s best-selling brand. Robe di Kappa was born. Marco Boglione joined MC
