Gosha Rubchinskiy is one of contemporary fashion’s most agenda-setting polymaths. The deigned and photographer was born in 1984 in Moscow.
He has gathered attention for taking inspiration from and documenting Russia’s youth culture. He works to empower the youth culture, a community of like-minded, creative individuals.
Backed by Comme des Garçons, Rubchinskiy’s label combines the world’s of high-end menswear and street wear.
Gosha Rubchinskiy’s 2017 Spring/Summer Collection helped brands such as FILA, Kappa and Sergio Tacchini to make a comeback into the fashion industry. For his 2017 SS collection Florence did not seem like the most obvious place for a Gosha Rubchinskiy show. As Gosha’s work is a constant homage to his Russian homeland. Gosha showcased his fashion collection in Italy to pay homage to the country’s illustrious fashion heritage, dropping not one but five collaborations with iconic Italian labels.
Sergio Tacchini supplied some bright red tracksuits in the fashion show, while Gosha linked with Kappa for some skimpy gym gear and more tracksuits. FILA’s panelled sweaters and Tennis Classic sneakers were given a post-Soviet makeover. Some corduroy jeans and trucker jackets, created with Levi’s, made it the sixth collaboration of the fashion show.
So far this was Gosha’s most accessible collection yet. Gosha has moved away from the high fashion demographic and is on his way to becoming a bona fide streetwear giant, being successful in doing so simply because he makes clothes that young people really relate to.
